Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple (Malayalam: ശ്രീ പദ്മനാഭസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം) is one of the most famous Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerla, India. The shrine is currently run by a trust headed by the erstwhile royal family of Travancore. Recently Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Thiruvanathapuram threw up a treasure trove about Rs. 100,000 Crore treasure (Nidhi in Malayalam) which included antique gold ornaments, diamonds and other precious stones, golden crown, golden bow, golden vessels, and other precious stones were found in the secret chambers (Nilavara in temple) of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The seven member panel appointed by the Supreme Court of India who were drawing up a list of assets of the ancient Lord Vishnu Temple were mesmerized by the sight of the huge treasure grove in front of them. Source said that the original value of the treasure found in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Trivandrum will be much more than Rs 100,000 Crore when calculating the price including the antiquity of the treasure found.
The list of articles found are endless which includes one lakh gold coins stored in 20 big sacks, rare diamonds and stones including 'indraneelam', more than 1200 'Sarappoli' gold chains, gold crowns, golden coins, 'Kashu' necklaces, golden plates, diamonds (includes Belgium diamonds), precious stones like emeralds, rubies, etc.
This temple is administered by descendents of Trivancore Samasthaanam The Kerala budget is said to be only Rs.35000 crore. A temple in Kerala could be richer than this and now it is the one of the temple having such treasures.
Tight security has been provided in and around the temple, as a result of the treasure discovered including metal detector, digital surveillance, satellite video coverage, commando team, special mufti police round the clock.
