2011 India Independence Day Celebration | Greetings | Pictures | SMS

The 65th Independence Day of India festival is celebrating on 15th August 2011 by the people in all states of India. The Independence Day Celebrations of India are marked by the hoisting of the national flag by the prime minister of India at the Red Fort, as well as by chief ministers in their respective state capitals. The flag hoisting is followed by an Independence Day Parade through the capital and cultural events are held all over the nation.



Starting from 15th August 1947 Indians are celebrating the Independence Day which is celebrated on account of the Independence from British rule in the 1947 and that day is announced as the national holiday in India by the Government of India. Today on 15th August 2011, Monday Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh  hoists the flag of India at Red Fort Delhi followed by the Independence Day speech by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to the nation.  The Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site, Red Fort (लाल क़िला), Delhi, on August 15. This is telecasted live on the National Channel Doordarshan and many other News Channels all over India. Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs take place in all the state capitals. In the cities around the country the national flag is hoisted by politicians in their constituencies. In various private organisations the flag hoisting is carried out by a senior official of that organisation. Schools and colleges around the country organize flag hoisting ceremonies and various cultural events within their premises, where younger children in costume represent their idols of the Independence era.

On the Independence Day people will wear the Indian Flag pin on their clothes to show their love of nation. In schools and colleges special cultural programs will be conducted and Indians share their happiness by sending wishes, SMS, messages, scraps using their mobiles and social networks like Google +, Orkut, Facebook and Twitter will be used by the people to share their wishes online.  People also use free sms websites like Way2sms, 160by2 and other free sms websites to send messages to their friends and relatives.
